to take off nail polish ?Is there anything else u can use insted of nail polish remover ?
k this is a neat trick lol use regular nail polish lol it works really well just dont let it dry lolIs there anything else u can use insted of nail polish remover ?
straight acetone.

The top layer of my nail comes off after taking of nail polish. what should i do?

for the past few weeks whenever i took off nailpolish and after a few minutes my top layer of the nail came off. not the whole thing but just a little. The top layer of my nail comes off after taking of nail polish. what should i do?
I believe it has something to do with you lacking in a vitamin, I think its etiher iron or calcium. Drink milk :]

Or you can get a fingernail polish with vitamins in it. Local grocery store should carry something like that. The top layer of my nail comes off after taking of nail polish. what should i do?
that happened to me too!! just get a soft buffer type thing, and softly buff your nails. I don't know why it (';it'; being the top bit of your nail coming off) happens, but if it gets worst go and see a doctor and he can refer you to a nail person.

Hope this helps!!
Use a base coat. It prevents the nail polish from damaging your fingernails.

How many applications does it take until an OPI nail polish bottle is finished?

Hi it is kind of hard to say because it depends on how long you use it for and how many coats you put on. I would say if you put nailpolish on both your toes and fingernails it would last maybe for 30 or 40 applications.

Remember not to use so much...1 coat is good enough =)How many applications does it take until an OPI nail polish bottle is finished?

  • What's the big deal about dark purple/black nail polish?

I was wearing dark purple nail polish that looked black and my family was commenting on it in a bad way saying I hope your not turning emo or it looks trashy. What's the big deal? It's just nail polish. I dressed very nicely and had on nice jewelery. What's the big deal about dark purple/black nail polish?
Well, few years ago when i started to apply black nail polish- where it wasn't common yet. People started to ask, are you listening to rock? Oh that looks evil! Why are you applying this?

Well, i didn't;t care it was my hands not yours. Plus it shaped my nails very good. Nowadays, many people do apply it, even in weddings. But yet elder people don't understand it, they don't see it feminine. What's the big deal about dark purple/black nail polish?
Some people just don't like it. It's a nice color, and it goes with just about everything but it's not very ';girlie'; or not what some older people think young girls should wear. I don't usual wear black, but I do wear other darker colors and it makes my hands look nice and clean and very pretty. So don't worry about it. Just do what you want to do. I mean it's nail polish, it'll come off!
Tell your family they need to get with the times. Lincoln Park After Dark (a dark purple almost black) polish has been one of OPI's top sellers since it came out several years ago. It actually sold out at first. Just know that you have better fashion sense then your family apparently ever will.
i love wearing black nail polish

and i am in no way emo or goth or whatever ha

it matches anything and i think it looks really clean and nice

How do i fix a leather sofa that has been discolored with nail polish remover?

kids spilled nail polish remover on my new leather sofa now there is a stain looks like color came off can this be fixed? How do i fix a leather sofa that has been discolored with nail polish remover?
I would try to contact the manufacturer...they may be able to suggest a dye.

    Good luck...

How do i fix a leather sofa that has been discolored with nail polish remover?
if you can, take back the sofa. sofa's covered in cheap, painted leather usually have cheap, poorly built frames. if you go to a furniture store that sells furniture for money not credit, you will be surprised to find how affordable quality really is. a good sofa will last several generations and age gracefully and usually retain or go up in value.
Go to a shoe repair place and they will have dyes for leather. Fiebing's is one brand, I have used it and was surprised how well it worked.

This is the beeest nail polish! I have it in quite a few colors. For you, I would stick with the colors such as Brassy, Passing by Pink, Timeless Pink, Sunset Prism, Budding Blossoms or Sheer Crystal Dash. (If you can't tell..I love shades of pink)

This brand of nail polish I have found works extremely well also. The polish stays on for about two weeks without chipping for me! Any color on the chart would look great with your fair skin!

    ENJOY! (=
I have fair skin, and personally like yellow on my nails. (:

I bought mine from Claire's, in the six-color group. It came with green, blue, purple, pink, yellow, and orange, and all come out a little faded at first, so you have to coat over them, but it looks really pretty once your nails dry.

  • Why is it called nail polish instead of nail paint?

I painted my nails the other day and thought that was kinda weird. Why is it called nail polish instead of nail paint?
Good question-I think it's becuase your nails are usually shinier after you put nail polish on...creating the ';polished'; effect...And polish has a more positive connotation to it (which helps in advertising). Think about it: polished means cleaned or well-kept and paint...doesn't really have any positive meaning associated with it.

:)Why is it called nail polish instead of nail paint?
That's a good question.....You paint your nails with polish. I guess that's a just a fancy way someone thought of to say it.
Actually it is nail lacquer. It isn't paint at all it is pigmented lacquer.

Use acetone and a couple of clean white towel-type rags. Soak the nail polish with acetone and dab it off with the towel. Don't wipe or it will spread. Use a clean spot on the towel each time you dab. You can also try lots of cotton balls.

Does the green tea nail polish really make your nails longer?

I was looking at the commercial, and wondering if it really worked. I want to hear your results!Does the green tea nail polish really make your nails longer?
well, the green tea does grow then, but only about 1/6 of an inch. for real resalts(1/2cennteimeter) you should aply every other hour.the green tea if somewut made for drinking(not the polish stuff!if you acsidently shwallow some no bash but if the whole bottle or half if swallowed call your lockal posion center)

so it has healthy chemicals in it, so when you apply it your nails have most needs ur whole body does so it grows because it's healthy.(:)KDoes the green tea nail polish really make your nails longer?
I am going to try it and see.
Nope, nails grow from the inside. Any product that you use on the outside is not going to make your nails longer. It's pretty much the same thing as using a strengthening shampoo for your hair. It's not going to make your hair (or, in your case, nails) longer, but it might protect them so that they don't break or chip as easily.

Where do i find the nail polish that changes color in the sunlight?

I bought the stuff you are talking about in Mexico, and it is pretty sweet!!

I actually think I remember seeing some in Claire's in the Lansing Mall... so I'd check there or in the Meridian mall there is a Claire's too!
Well, i just got a bottle from Del Sol its a store that everything when you go outside the colors change, Dramatically
when you do find some like that tell me! but they have some at claires like when you move your fingers it changes a little

Why don't they make nail polish like real paint so that it is so strong it stays put no matter what?

They should just go all the way and make it where you basically need paint thinner to get it off! I mean don't we want our nails to stay painted and beautiful? Just a thought. Why don't they make nail polish like real paint so that it is so strong it stays put no matter what?
That's a good point. But the only reason why real paint sticks so well is that is seeps into the pores in the wood/walls. Nails have very, very small pores, and actual paint peels easily off of them. But yeah, they should make nail polish stronger. :)Why don't they make nail polish like real paint so that it is so strong it stays put no matter what?
Well I think they don't do tht cuz it probally wouldn't come off!!!! LOL
Haha, I was actually thinking about that the other day :)
They could do that, but it would be pretty hard to get off. If you want nail polish like that, keep some nail polish for like a year or so then use it. I guarantee it will be like real paint. I have used old nail polish before. It stayed on for 2 1/2 weeks or more. And it took like a cap-full of nail polish remover to get it off. Lol =)
that would be good but it would be hard to take off though!
Haha, Ive thought of this before. Regular paint has a latex/satin base so it would just peel off the nail. I only know this because I just got done remodeling my house and every time I paint I get it on my nails and it just peels off lol.

  • Why does my dark purple nail polish always turn out too dark?

I have this very pretty dark purple nail polish and when I put the first coat of nail polish on it is a lighter shade of the purple but when I put the second coat of nail polish on it looks like its black, I can't just leave the first coat on cause it doesn't turn out good.

is there any way to prevent this from happening so you can tell it's purple and not black? Why does my dark purple nail polish always turn out too dark?
Try not to double coat it. Press it lightly against your nails. Why does my dark purple nail polish always turn out too dark?
Our Just gonna have to get a different Shade of purple =) the lightest oneee so when you apply it the 2nd time it will be the shade you want it and if tat doesnt work and you want it DARKEr

Just add another coat until you like it

    =)
All polish looks darker when dry. Couple that with the fact that you are using more than one coat and you are going to get dark results. You have to find a shade that is lighter than your current shade and try it.
    go to a pro?

sometime the color just isnt right or the brand it bad i recemend O.P.I and orly.

here how you should paint it

    base coat- 1st coat-2nd coat-top coat = clear
it could be becus your useing too dark of a color and need to choose a medium or light shade of purple and to darken it go over it a few times
All polish dries darker. If you get a slightly lighter purple you will get the color you desire.
Maybe you should get another nail polish cause that nail polish isnt the color you want
Just put on a first coat and put on two coats of nail polish coating. I think that what its called... or clear nail polish. :)
Get some nail polish thinner and thin it out a bit. Your polish will go alot further, too.
because when u put 2 coats, the second one is the same but goes over and makes it darker. same with food. eat to much..
maybe because you bought f^cking dark nail polish you f^cking re(ard
    Use only one coat.
i suspect the work if foul play. call the police lock your doors and lock yourself into your bathroom!

Where can you buy good nail polish?

I have tried lots of places like walmart, kmart, and krogers for nail polish and none of them stay on very long? Whats wrong?Where can you buy good nail polish?
You need to put a base coat on, let it dry thoroughly, then 2 or 3 coats of polish, letting each coat dry for at least 15 minutes and then a topcoat which you let dry for another 15 minutes.Where can you buy good nail polish?
For long lasting colors I would try OPI.com and there ';try on this color studio'; which features a virtual hand model whose skin tone changes in five shades of light to dark, so you can see which skin tone your color will look on you. Next they have a drop down menu of collections from: India, Brights, Soft Shades, Mod About Brights, La Collection de France, Russian, etc. As you move your mouse over the speciific color the model's fingernails change to that shade. You can also sort by reds, blue, black, purple tones for the specicif collection you choose. This is a pretty useful tool you can use.OPI.com has a store locator or most JC Penny's stores or high quality nail salons sell OPI products.

Next, if you have a Sephora Cosmtic Store at the mall, you might want to visit their Sephora by OPI display. They have a large selection of 54 shades and a tester nail polish bottle of each, where your can try on the shade, use the supplied cotton pads and nail polish remover to remove the old polish.

The secret to a long lasting manicure is to use a good base coat, 2 coats of your favorite color and a extra coat just on the tips of the nails which seem to come in contact mostly and a good strong diamond hard top coat. Plus, Sephora by OPI has these fast drying nail polish drops. Using the supplied eye dropper you can just drop one drop or two over each nail and this seals in the polishes. What I love about this is the aplicator never comes in contact with the top coat for a flawless shine.

Using these polishes will extend the life of your manicure and prevent chipping.
Are you using a base and top coat?

Are you using a brand like Revlon, Sally Hansen, OPI or Essie?

Have you tried stores like Target, Beauty Brands or Walgreens?

Do you let each coat dry before putting on a new one?

Last question do you roll the bottle in between your palms before putting on the polish.

I usually do my nails myself and the polish usually stays on for a week or longer. Good luck!

    I reccomend:

Sally Hansen Brands ( Diamond strength if you want a softer color)

and also Savvy. I just got a bottle from them and it works REALLY awesomely. Revlon also is pretty good. Things like Express Finish work quickly, but you run the risk of chipping.. If you really are wanting lasting paint, get top/bottom coat. Put bottom on, then the Laquer color stuff, and then topcoat. also, paint the edges of your nails with all of those, and it will chip less easily.

Sorry If my answer was a little elaborate..

Bottom line... if you want you can buy black nail polish from me. *shrug*

You have my email now... Let me know if it comes too that. Kay?

And due too your email settings and what have you... *shrugs* I can't email you back via Answers. You'll have too email refresherdownunder@yahoo.com.au directly instead of via the board. Wishing you the best!

Husbands are you scared when you wife wears dark makeup and black nail polish?

Do you fear her or find her hot?Husbands are you scared when you wife wears dark makeup and black nail polish?
Yes I do! But then again I have a fantasy about a girl holding me down by the throat and ...

hmm maybe I should not mention it here to avoid getting deleted/violated. ;-)Husbands are you scared when you wife wears dark makeup and black nail polish?
    Both. In general it's a turn on. Remember the mellencamp song ';sink your teeth right through my bones baby, let's see what we can do, come on and make it ahhh ... hurt so good';

Over the weekend i was working out at the gym and there was a chick using the kickboxing bag. I thought she was going to kick it right through the window. Every guy in the place was checking her out. I almost went up to her and said ';hey, if you want to fight for real, i'll fight you';. She was wearing vamp colored nails.
that only depends, if she only wear it once in a while or just being sexy and ready for some fun fun. I would find her hot as a devil camp fire. on the other hand that she drag it out to long (2 days or more) and start talking depress. I would think she is on drugs and be worry for her.
No I wish my wife would, I would crave her more, I think I would feel very fortunate to have a woman that prepared for a occasion or just daily living. :) Oh, sorry got lost their for a second, definitely hot!
It really goes well the the black leather mini and the black boots, but she usually makes me take them off so she can wear them. But damn, I looked hot for a while, although I must admit she is much hotter.
find her hot, hopefully it is a prelude to dark and mysterious sex.
I've never worn black nail polish... but I have worn lots of dark looks before... my husband doesn't care either way. I do find that the bright colors I enjoy wearing, look better on me.
Sounds kind of hot and maybe a little scary. Handcuffs would ratchet up the fear factor.
    fear definitely
HOT it goes great with her red corsette and stockings.
Not scared. It all depends on how she looks if you like it or not.
sometimes it is sexy but don't want it all the time then it will get boring
hasnt happened but yeah i'd be afraid to go to sleep

These aren't trade journals, but I love reading Allure and In Style magazines. They are all about beauty and fashion and are the best two fashion magazines out there. They are great sources for what's new in makeup colors and products. Allure magazines editors test new products and review them, and they consult with experts and regular people on the street too. In Style does makeup and also shows you how to put together outfits for the season. Both magazines have websites you can look at for free.

I am a beauty journalist so have literally tried every nail polish under the sun.

    My advice is...

Don't spend money on the actual colour itself. It doesn't matter what brand you go for, just choose a colour that you LOVE! Cheap colours are often just as nice as the more expensive ones and are often just as good quality.

What you should invest in is a really good Top Coat...that is the thing that will give you the long-lasting quality. And is also the thing that gives you really shiny glossy nails. I never used to use a top coat but now I will never go back - honestly, they are A-mazing!

Some great top coat brands are Leighton Denny (amazing brand - also try their Remove and Rectify Cuticle Cream, it's amazing!) OPI, Jessica, Seche Vite, and Barbara Lippmann.

For really great colours, try Essie they have unusual colours. And Barry M is great too (and a bargain!)

Will nail polish eventually damage my nails?

OKAY. One thing, I have so much nail polish 80% of it dries before I can use it. Every time I want to use a new color I remove the other polish and put on the new polish. If I keep doing this will I damage my nails? My mom says too much of ';adult'; nail polish will eventually get inthrough my nail and turn it dark-ish. Should I stop now? Will nail polish eventually damage my nails?
The polish won't damage your nails. If you use dark colors without using a base coat, it will make your natural nails dark. However, even this goes away as the nail grows out. The bottom line is to use a good (not cheap) clear base coat before you put on the color. Make sure it dries all the way before using the color. I use Sally Hansen or Revlon products; they both work very well. Will nail polish eventually damage my nails?
Yes Totally. It will eventyually chip the nail. it sticks and pulls it of. Makes nails all bumpy and unevengood luck
no i think u will be fine, i have never heard of it damaging nails
No, you should just allow your nails to occasionally breathe and use no nail polish.

Using a ridge filler before you polish them really helps!

They have conditioning nail removers that add moisture back to the nails. You can also just use lotion and rub them into your nails.

Avocado oil is really good for them. It is cheap to buy at Sally's or other beauty supply stores.

yes they will turn yellow if you keep polish on (lol my toenails or completely ignored, i mistreat them)

every month give your nails a total treatment, fix cuticles, make em shinier, file em, whatever
i wont hurt you nails but if you leave a deep or dark color on to long and dont take it off you can dye ur nails and it make them a little weak

but you can make the darkness and the weakness go away

dont listen to what she said dont worry
i try to give my nails a break once in a while. ive worn acrylics for yeeeears and my nails are pretty damaged from them. when i dont have them on, i feel conscious, so i lay on the nail polish. so, im guilty of it too! i would just give them a break once in a while. maybe instead of a color, use a vitamin or something good for your nails in between new colors.
It may if u wear it 24/7 ur nails may not breath and may turn yellow i know from expercines sadly lol
Nail polish is drying to your natural nails if you use it all the time. You should regularly use a hand lotion, taking care to keep your cuticles moisturized. If you use a lot of dark colors, make sure that you use a clear base coat. If you don't, your nail will start to absorb some of the darker pigments in the dark nail polish, making your natural nails have a yellow tone to them. Also, you should give your nails a break from nail polish every few days to let them recover some moisture.

  • Is it true when you go to laboer u cant have any make up on, nail polish etc?

Not that thats what i am concertn about but i was told and i was shocked like why?Is it true when you go to laboer u cant have any make up on, nail polish etc?
Having been a Labor and Delivery RN for 12 years, I will say (in the US), we have no problem with cosmetics or nail polish. If you would need to have the pulse oximeter on, we can take the polish off a nail. It has nothing to do with ';being sterile in the operating room for c-sections';. When I'm the circulating RN, I don't have gloves on and often my nails are painted with clear coat (acrylic nails are prohibited on patient care employees at my hospital). When I assist or scrub, I have on 2 pairs of sterile gloves. As far as the mom, the only thing we remove with a c-section would be a belly ring and her index finger nail polish.

EDIT: Thank you Vicky!!Is it true when you go to laboer u cant have any make up on, nail polish etc?
Julianna's answer is perfect -- she deserves 'best answer!'

But I've also heard that some practices don't like coloured nail polish because if you're starting to have oxygenation issues, the skins under your nails changes colour. This might be more when you're doing a homebirth, where they don't have the same access to equipment for measuring these things.

ps: be sure to wear waterproof mascara for birthing -- you'll be sweating buckets :)
    Regular make-up shouldn't be a problem.

They prefer that you not have nail polish, because the color of your nail bed can be a sign of trouble, and if you need to have your pulse-ox monitored (unlikely in a normal labor, but possible), they put the clip on your fingertip.
The nail polish thing I was told about in case of the need for a c-section. Everything has to be sterile and apparantly polished nails are not. I have not heard of the makeup thing.
You can't decide when you go into labor. If you have make up and nail polish on at the time you cannot really be expected to remove it before you go to the hospital. Who told you this?
Personally I didn't want makeup on while in labor due to all the sweating it will run and I didn't want raccoon eyes LOL

but no you can wear makeup and they never said I couldn't have nail polish either.
i have never heard of this being the case. i have been in many a delivery room with both. but i do know that fake nails carry alot of germs under them and some NICU's will not allow you in with them on.
I seriously hope you can have makeup on!!!

Imma throw a fit If i dont have it on! lol.
Not true. My toenails were done and I had make up on. Some hospitals don't allow jewelry but I had mine on the whole time too
they want everything to be sterile for baby...

I use to do my nails all the time in school. What i would do is polish it as normal let it sit for a couple or seconds then with a paper towel i would wipe it right off. Hope this works for youWhat can you use instead of nail polish remover to remove nail polish?
acetone, but I think it's the exact same thing as nail polish remover. What can you use instead of nail polish remover to remove nail polish?
    well thats a stupid qustion...
    Turps or acetone.
    you can use hair spray...amelias
nail polish remover depends upon acetone. a dangerous solvent also in most lacquer thinners. Bug repellent with Deet will eat it too.
go off naturally or take a nail file and rub back and forth.
Non-acetone polish remover is the best and safest. Super Nail brand, OPI, Creative....are the cheapest/best. There are cheaper brands but they are drying to skin and the nails. Don't pick or scratch your polish off, you may scratch or peel your nails (and for heavens sake, don't use a nail file unless you want to ruin your nails..). Don't use turpentine or acetone, it's not healthy for your skin. After removing your polish (cotton balls are the best to wipe with), wash them and then apply lotion. All removers are drying to some extent. And have ventilation, don't breath the fumes.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, don't let anyone tell you that. If you need to know, ask.

There are questions that are obvious to some so they don't understand why another person might ask it....it just shows their lack of imagination or experience.

I would definitely do the toes the pink fuchsia colour to match the flowers and will also contrast well with the dresses. I agree with the fingers, they should be neutral, a french manicure always looks really nice.
Goes with the shoes and very ';bride'; suited . Just a hint of the pink.

I have this recipe book of my mother's where a bunch of people share recipes and create a cookbook. Somebody compiled a list in it of all the tough stains and how to get them out. There's a method for nail polish, and you should know EVERY method i've used from this book has worked.

Plus a few times I answered some questions on here and the asker said it worked for them too.

    Nail Polish:

Sponge with polish remover or banana oil. Wash. If stain remains, sponge with denatured alcohol to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Wash again.

Do not use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics - use the banana oil for these.

    Good luck, and happy washing!
    nail polish remover
Try acetone, but be careful because if the proof is too high it may take some of the color out of the clothes as well.
    yes PETROL no smocking though
If the clothes are cotton you can probably use finger nail polish remover. If they are a synthetic such as polyester or nylon or rayon the polish remover might eat a hole in them. Try somewhere on the garment that doesn't show and see what happens.

Can a man get away with wearing colored nail polish?

I am going to a social function this weekend and wanted to wear silver nail polish because my date suggested it. At first I was against the idea but the more I thought of it, it might be fun.

If not silver what other colors would be acceptable or the whole idea would not work at all? Please let me know. ThanksCan a man get away with wearing colored nail polish?
Why is it a ';gay'; thing? Where can I read up on the ';rules'; that stipulate what indicates that someone is gay by their clothing, appearance or grooming? Remember guys and earrings or piercings?

I see nothing wrong with wearing an appropriate color. I think that bright reds probably aren't best. I'd suggest matching your neck tie if you're wearing a tie. Just match one of the colors on the tie, sort of like a frame or mat around a picture. Clear is always acceptable. ALWAYS, anywhere, anytime. In many cultures/societies, men wear clear polish and have regular manicures to maintain a ';polished'; look. It indicates that they are not ordinary laborers and work with their heads not hands. Not that there's anything wrong at all with manual labor, it just a society - class thing in many countries.

Some men also like neutral sheer colors. Very pale and sheer pink or sheer purple when applied look almost like your natural nail and no-one will even know unless they look closely. Darker colors will be quite obvious. If it Xmas or New Years party - I'd go for a glitter or sparkle polish to add fun value. Also depends if it's a social gathering or a business one. I'd tend to be less obvious if it's a business gathering. You can also try to compliment that your date is wearing. If she's in a black or purple dress, you can wear same color.

Either get a professional manicure or have your date do your nails for you first. Nails should be as long as your fingers, not longer. About 2 mm of white tip. Too many men have their nails too short - right down to end of nail bed. That looks childish and even uncomfortable. Then you need to apply a clear base coat. Do not use top coat as a base coat as the formulations are different. Then you can apply polish layer. Afterwords, use a top coat to protect the polish layer.

Go to the OPI.com website and look at the colors. There's hundreds.

Colors I'd recommend: (silver tints first)

    OPI DS Shimmer

    OPI Happy Anniversary

    OPI Stars In My Eyes

    OPI Kyoto Pearl (pearl white)

OPI Sheer Enchantment (sheer/clear with glitter)

    OPI Hearts and Tarts

    OPI I'll Take The Cake

    OPI No Bees Please

    OPI Room Service

    OPI Mod Hatter

    OPI Will You Mariachi Me

Have fun with it. It's only polish, comes off easily, painlessly and quickly.

Can a man get away with wearing colored nail polish?
Hahaha do it. It would be funny, just bring along nail polish remover
are you trying to impress others, your date, or no one?

two out of three says do the polish.
Honestly, just no. Stick with clear (even clear can work wonders on the appearance of your nails) unless you're gay.
Personally I think it's hot on a guy. Go for it.
    Like a clear color.
just black or clear nail polish, thats it.
How about blue, to match your makeup and dress?
no offense, but not unless ur like, an emo/scene dude, or ur gay. and i doubt the second one
tell her you'll were a silver condom and she can see it later!
    clear or black!
Honestly, I really don't think nail polish on a guy is a good idea. But that's my opinion :)

Are you a person that woulda wear black nail polish but your not even close to being a gothinc person?

I just bought a black nail polish..becuase i just wanted to try something different. but my mom goes.. ';No thats the gothic color'; So i dont know..i dont want people thinking im gothic or anything like that. becuase im not.Are you a person that woulda wear black nail polish but your not even close to being a gothinc person?
Yahh...I like black nail polish, personally I think its really cute. %26amp;%26amp; if you knew me in real life you would know Im the total opposite of gothicAre you a person that woulda wear black nail polish but your not even close to being a gothinc person?
I am far from gothic and I wear black polish. I even started a trend around my way with a black and pink french manicure.

People are always going to give their opinion on what they feel, parents, friends and all. It only matters what you think.

It's just polish! Wear the rainbow!
haha yeah i sometimes use black nail polish.

    its actually stylish.
    you won't look goth.

anyone can wear black nail polish goth or not.

PS. it looks good on rounded nails
black is considered to be a classy, kinda of sophiscated color. notice how people usually wear black suits, shirt, or pants to work, or when they attend some formal event?

tons of people wear black nail polish and arent gothic. like jessica and ashlee simpson, lindsay lohan, hilary duff...and the rest of us :]
Of course! In fact, it's one of the hottest colors this fall. It's really sophisticated. If your mom thinks it's too much, try to mix it with some red or blue to get a really sexy ruby color that from far still looks very black and dark.
I wear it sometimes and I hardly look gothic. If you like it just do it, but if you're concerned about what your mum said then make sure the clothes you wear don't look gothic.
yeah i would wear it cause if people want to label me cause i wear black nail then they need to get a life (no offense)
i'm the same way. back in jan. i saw the high school musical concert. you could see their nails were painted black when they held their microphones. the next day i bought it. its cool!
the color of your nails won't define who you are....i just painted my nails black 5 days ago but unfortunately they started peeling already so i had to get rid of them today....only problem is, since it's so dark it was harder for me to remove it than if i had a lighter color polish on. took a few more cotton balls and nail polish remover than usual....i now have light, light pink polish on....i'm as girliest as girls can get and i still wear black polish once in a while...nothing wrong with it as long as you're just being you and you're comfortable with it.
    I like black nail polish.
no that doesnt mean your gothic

a lot of people that arent gothic wear black nail polish-its in style now!!
i wear black nail polish [when im not in school cause they dont allow it arggh] and im not close to goth
you can wear n e colour u want to. my mom does that to me like literalt ALL the time! even if i wear black eyeliner she does that to me. it doesnt mean a thing if u wear black nail polish. it goes good with EVERYTHING cuz.. its black.
I don't label myself nor other people and/or things.
I wear black nail polish sometimes, it's a stylish colour and it doesn't make u look gothic - it depends if ur dressed as a gothic ;-)
i would wear it cuz i liked it but peoples first thought is gothic. except gothics wear all black.
    well i personally don't.

but my bestfriend does. and shes not goth at all. shes the complete opposite.
Yes i wear black nail polish and so do my friends and we are considered ';preppy'; its not bad at all. I just use what ever looks good so if black nail polish looks good use it and dont take the judgement seriously.

    hope this helped!
omg i know how u feel. i always where black nailpolish and im nowhere near gothic/emo. its fashionable. my dad is always black nailpolsih?

but its totally fine to wear it every fashion icon wears it=]
who cares what people think. black polish is what's ';in'; right now. go for a dark purple, maybe? i love that color!
Im far from goth and black nail polish is one of my favorites.
ya, i've worn black nail polish before and trust me, im no where near being gothic!!!
Having black nail polish is no where near Gothic. Every girl in every clique has worn black once.
im labeled as ';preppy'; and i wear black nail polish sometimes.

i think its really cute. and i was reading seventeen magazine and theyre actually saying that its really in right now.

it might have used to be a gothic color but now its totally in and you dont have to be goth to wear it.
I love black nail polish, and i am far far FAR from goth! I just think its unique and its very elegant!! Good luck, my mom was the same way and i was just like 'I'm far from goth, i think its cute, elegant and classy. I also get many compliments when i wear it mom. Plus, I'M the one who's wearing it!' and welll i guess it worked. Hope i helped!! :D
Black nail polish doesnt mean you're a gothic person!! An off topic answer - I think it's a little hard to get it off though.
Wearing black nail polish is definitely not only goth. I am no where close to being goth and I wear black nail polish all the time! My mom even let me buy it.
Well of course your mom is right, but yes i would wear it, and i'm not gothic,But try to put a red dot in the middle of it, or choose a other color you like to put there.

  • Does clear nail polish get rid of warts?

I know its disgusting but...i have a wart on my hand. I tried to freeze it off with two different brands but it didnt work. I herd clear nail polish works..so does anybody know if that acctually works...and does anyone know any other ways to get rid or them?

Thanks in advance!Does clear nail polish get rid of warts?
I starred your question because I've had this problem. I went to a foot doctor because it turned out to be Plantar's wart and I got a prescription (although it's in the medicine aisle anyway) for wart remover ( with Salacytic Acid) I used it every night for about 3 weeks and the warts turned black and then came off.

To avoid this problem don't walk around barefoot on linoleum floors that could be dirty.

When I went to the doctor I was already limping because of the problem. After 2 days they started to hurt less. Just use it every day. (Yes I missed a few)

But I am very interested if your solution will work!

(Update) I agree with Melissa. I had a friend that used the one with the pads to cover the medicine and she said it worked great too!

Here's a link to Walgreens for all the wart medicines they use.Does clear nail polish get rid of warts?
I never heard about the clear nail polish, but I did get this over the counter product (can't remember the brand -- think it was clear away though) that had these little medcine disks that look like bandaids. I put it on my wart and it was gone in a week or two. You change the little medication pad every day or two. Otherwise, a dermatologist is an option (though that didnt work for me, the otc worked much better). GOod luck
I heard that you apply a small piece of banana skin under a band aid. You change it every few days, it takes a while to work. Remember that warts do go away on their own eventually. That is why it is so hard to work out what really gets rid of them.

How do you remove nail polish off skin?

How can I remove dry nail polish off my hands without nail polish remover? How do you remove nail polish off skin?
If you wash that area with soap and water it will eventually come off. Nail polish doesn't last long on skin, so for example if it's on your hand, wash your hands like 1-2 tonight and then 1-2 times again tomorrow, it should slowly start disappearing. You can also try a hand scrub and doing it with that too, it might come off easier. How do you remove nail polish off skin?
Soak them in warm water with mild soap, keep your hands submerged for at least 5 mins, should rub right off

My cat spilled an entire bottle of red nail polish on the carpet!?

How do I get it out?!?!?!?!?!My cat spilled an entire bottle of red nail polish on the carpet!?
    Hi

The best way to remove the finger nail polish is to let it dry and cut the tips of the carpet fibres. Trying to remove the nail polish with a towel and nail polish remover will likely cause the polish to smear into the fibre and make a bigger stain.

If this has happen already you will need to use nail polish remover. Blot the chemical onto the spot and then remove with a wet vac and slowly pour hot almost boiling water (from a kettle) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time, (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet).

using If the stain is still visible than repeat the nail polish and wet vac with the hot water.

From a carpet cleaner for 14 yearsMy cat spilled an entire bottle of red nail polish on the carpet!?
Tip #1: Any non-acetone finger nail polish remover will take that off and not hurt the carpet. Take a paper towel soak it down a little and wipe it off. Try to keep the area contained that you rub, at first it will look like you are smearing it around, just keep changing paper towels with a new one until stain is gone. You need to change your cloth several times so you're not sliding polish over a bigger area. When done a liquid dish soap will get the smell out of the carpet.

Tip #2: I use the polish remover and blot, then GooGone works to remove the remaining stain.

Tip #3: When I spilt fuschia nail polish on my carpet I saturated it with non-acetone nail polish remover and scrubbed it with a white cloth. After the color stopped coming out on cloth (and it was still slightly pink on the carpet) I made a mixture of liguid dish soap, hot water and bleach and continued scrubbing until the nail polish came out (for white carpets only). If that doesn't work for you try using a fabric marker from a craft store and color over the stain.

Tip #4: I spilled dark purple nail polish on my light grey carpet. When I tried nail polish remover it didn't do a thing. Then a friend told me to try window cleaner and it worked great. I can't even tell it happened.

hahahahaha good luck my friends cat did that 3 years ago and still cant get it out ....... try mr.clean magic eraser lol
Found this remedy, hope it works:

Get some non-acetone nail polish remover that has no fragrance or color added. Next, take a white cloth or paper towel and dip in the remover. Now test on a hidden part of the carpet (corner of a closet or a remnant) by blotting on the carpet. If color transfers to the cloth or the fabric 'melts', contact a carpet care professional. If your carpet is color safe, apply the remover to a white cloth and blot (do not rub) the stained area. This may take some time. Just keep blotting until the stain is gone. If the stain remains, make a solution of 1 teaspoon of dish washing liquild and 1 quart of warm water. Apply with enough of the solution to cover the stain and let soak for 5 minutes. Blot the excess moisture and rinse with warm water. Blot thoroughly with a clean cloth. If the stain reappears after drying, repeat.

    Some also recommend using hairspray.
This trick was taught to me by a carpet cleaner - it's the best kept carpet cleaners spot cleaning secret.

    1. Go buy clear amonia and put it in a squirt bottle.

    2. Heat up your clothing iron on the hottest setting.

    3. Squirt down the spot until soaked. set a timer for 5 minutes.

    4. go wet down a white clean washcloth that you don't need anymore (with no stains on it or dirt), and ring it out.

    5. Lay the rag flat over the spot.

    6. place the iron on top of the rag, and count to 30-40. only go to 40 if you have big juervos because you can burn a spot on your carpet if you go too long.

the way it works is the heat pulls the stain into the rag because of the amonia. Repeat it until it's all gone. On the second or third time, soak it better with amonia, leave the amonia on it longer before applying the heat, and leave the iron on a little longer.

    works like magic every time!
If it is already dry you are going to have to cut and patch, do not do this yourself, it will cost about 50 bucks. Other than that, the only way is with very harsh and stinky solvents that might bleach your carpet.
Oh about 4-5 bottles of nail polish remover, than to get that off, just use vinegar/water, to remove the nail polish remover, from your carpet. The vinegar smell will dissipate. Along with the nail polish remover. Then if you absolutely have too, get you some of that spray carpet cleaner, called ';Woolite Oxy Deep'; it works for my carpet, and I have a light cocoa colored carpet. Closer to the white color, than the brown. so, good luck, but the woolite wont get the polish off, just clean all the polish remover off, most likely.
take a dry clean cloth and nail polish remover . rub gently, it will come out. good luck!

What is a works as a substitute for nail polish remover?

I'm out of nail polish remover so what can i use instead? What is a works as a substitute for nail polish remover?
Do you have any acetone.....?What is a works as a substitute for nail polish remover?
glop on some clear nail polish %26amp; wipe it off. you might need to do it a couple times to get it ALL off, but it works pretty well.
    Lacquer thinner or paint remover.

No lie...nothing else really works. Nail polish is technically a refined version of car paint. Only a proper remover will take it off.

And don't peel it off yourself--you'll just damage your nails. Buy some more nail polish remover.

Is a nail polish top coat gonna take care of it?

I heard that if you buy a really good top/base coat nail polish, it doesn't matter how dirt cheap or low quality the nail color is in itself. Like if I put OPI top coat on top of my wet and wild nail color, it's going to last as long as OPI colors? Is that right? And which is more important, top coat or base coat? How long do OPI colors last? ThanksIs a nail polish top coat gonna take care of it?
Both top %26amp; base coat are equally important. Always use both. Polish typically stays longer when both are used, but don't skimp on quality of either. Also, try not to skinp on the quality of the polish either. There are a lot of polishes available besides OP which are very good. China Glaze is one of them. Give it a try!

:]Help! What should be the best color of nail polish for me?
any colour really! if you wear many different colours it doesn't particually matter as it will like you've purposely not matched!!

black nail varnish goes with everything, but i think thats a bit outof fashion atm.. if you wanted a dark colour go for a really dark burgandy or something so it's got some colour to it!!

if you wanted colour on them, a light red looks really nice with anything really and not slutty! lol but any colour looks nice tbf!!
you could choose your favorite color. Or try a style that has one color on the nail then have your nails have little designs on them with a differnt color like this.

    http://www.elizabethnails.com/nails/red-…

    but with differnet colors.
you can always go with a neutral like silver gold or black. but always match with the dress you can always match with shoes you want to wear OR go out and get youre nails done then find a dress you want that matches youre nails

    just be careful about chipping
gee..thats not a ton of information to give you a qualified answer. you want a color opinion, but you don't even tell anyone what the color or style your dress is.
If your a college student I would go with a yellow dress (with sparkles on it)

If your wearing a yellow dress with silver sparkles on it I would go with a silver nail polish with sparkles on it
different natural french manicures look really good! by natural i mean like light pink or white or peach, or you could get whatever color u want

Try a nude sort of colour (Chanel do good ones). But the old classic suits-all-outfits has to be the French Manicure. I got a good set from Rimmel which was relatively cheap, but still good.
A light baby pink always looks cute. Also, a dark maroon or plum that almost looks black.
ur natural color of nail with little bit shinny
white b/c it looks great.. matches everything and it's summer!
Scarlet, maybe violet, and black is soooo hot!
hot pink, light blue, lime green, or orange
    Clear
French looks good and matches on anything since it's white :)

  • How can I get rid of nail polish without nail polish remover?

you can tyr using rubbing alcohol. It will take the polish off, it will just take longer and you will have to use a bit more. Another trick is to use nail polish. Take clear nail polish and oaint a thick coat on your nail, wipe off right away. It will work but it is messy and will take longer. How can I get rid of nail polish without nail polish remover?

I did find some sale ones at ULTA but it is hard to find a good color.

Anywhere besides ebay?Is there any places I can get OPI nail polish for less?
    Yep .

http://www.8ty8beauty.com/Is there any places I can get OPI nail polish for less?
I get all my OPI nail polishes for free, and here's how. I signed up for the Ulta rewards club, so I get coupons in the mail every month. I also get an Ulta coupon every month in my InStyle magazine. I use those to purchase whatever products I need, shampoo, mascara, whatever, and every three months I earn enough points to get a free nail polish. You can also find OPI on sale and in the clearance bins at Trade Secret. If you are very particular about your colors and you have to have them as soon as they come out, then you will have to pay full price. Even bargain shopping has its price.
I've seen them for less at beauty supply outlet stores however the colours are limited like you have found at ULTA.
I'm not sure if any other salons, but I go to a salon and they have some on sale.

    I got a couple for $3-4 each!!=]

try searching in salons carefully haha!

    hope this helps!
yeah. . . it all cost $8.50 if it was cheeper i would have found it

Where can you find acetone other than in nail polish remover?

On a shelf in a local hardware store or home center.Where can you find acetone other than in nail polish remover?
local hardware store,Where can you find acetone other than in nail polish remover?
Plain acetone is available at a drug store or beauty supply store in the same area as the nail polish removers.
Wal Mart..ACE hardware..HomeDepot...Lowes...Any place that sells paint ect
Acetone is a strong ketone solvent. It is very ';hot'; (fast evaporating). I buy it by the gallon to use in cleaning a spray gun and after stripping furniture. It is found in some commercial products, I know that it's also in most lacquer thinners, some strippers and SuperGlue accelerator. It dissolves some plastics and most finishes, so it's too strong to be found in a lot of things in any large quantity.

Oh, and it's used in meth labs. Which is why my paint store reports what of it they've sold.

I am looking for a good quality nail polish. I heard OPI and China Glaze are good, I am using Sally Hansen, and it's okay too...I am using up my current bottles, so what would be the best nail polish brand? What's your favorite high quality/long lasting nail polish brand?
sally hansen and omg i love maybelleine. it styats on forever and it looks nice and glossy.

pick me as best answer please[=What's your favorite high quality/long lasting nail polish brand?

And Barry M is great too (and a bargain!)

    x
I love OPI for the colors but Essie polish is INSANELY long lasting. I really like it even though the colors can be on the conservative side - esp at the drugstore where there is less selection.
    Chanel.

Is it true when you go to laboer u cant have any make up on, nail polish etc?

Some hospitals don't allow jewelry but I had mine on the whole time too
they want everything to be sterile for baby...

but girl who can keep a woman from looking good ! ;)
No, that isn't true. I had makeup and nail polish on both times.
Nope, not true, I had my nails done and make-up on.

    Nail care:
No. You're ok. Just make sure you remove it every 2 weeks
between colors, allow your nails to breathe for a week or two.

apply nails polish very well so they last long and dont chip off and tempt you to repaint all the time

yes they will turn yellow if you keep polish on (lol my toenails or completely ignored, i mistreat them)

every month give your nails a total treatment, fix cuticles, make em shinier, file em, whatever
i wont hurt you nails but if you leave a deep or dark color on to long and dont take it off you can dye ur nails and it make them a little weak

but you can make the darkness and the weakness go away

dont listen to what she said dont worry
i try to give my nails a break once in a while. ive worn acrylics for yeeeears and my nails are pretty damaged from them. when i dont have them on, i feel conscious, so i lay on the nail polish. so, im guilty of it too! i would just give them a break once in a while. maybe instead of a color, use a vitamin or something good for your nails in between new colors.

What can you use instead of nail polish remover to remove nail polish?

I use to do my nails all the time in school. I would have on color then i would have another in the afternoon and since we couldnt take nail polish remover i would carry around a clear coat of polish.

There are questions that are obvious to some so they don't understand why another person might ask it....it just shows their lack of imagination or experience.
goto swim, after a few hours, when u already leave the pool, scratch ur nails, its pretty easy to remove ur nail polish

juz bear in mind not to do tht in the pool n everythin will be alrright
    In a pinch, hairspray

I would definitely do the toes the pink fuchsia colour to match the flowers and will also contrast well with the dresses. I agree with the fingers, they should be neutral, a french manicure always looks really nice.
Goes with the shoes and very ';bride'; suited . Just a hint of the pink.
