You'd have to use something harsh, even nail polish remover would be harmful.
If your hardwood floors have been stained, varathaned, I wouldn't take a chance using anything - phone your favorite big Hardware Store, Carpet %26amp; Flooring store and ask them what they would suggest, they no doubt have a safe way (and product) to get rid of it without harming the finish on the floor.How to get nail polish off hardwood floors?

Use Goof-off or Goo Gone. Apply, let it sit for 20mins, then gently scrape with a razor blade.
We used nail polish remover pads. It didn't seem to hurt the hardwood floor finish.
